About Me

“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.”

Vincent van Gogh

Hi, my name is Tina Malonis. I’m an artist, and I live in New Hampshire. However, my art journey began in New York.

New York City was my destination to explore creative paths after graduating from Boston University in MA with a BFA in painting.

I freelanced as an editorial illustrator for several publications, including The New Yorker, in their ‘Goings On About Town’ section. Ultimately, I found my way to graphic design and art direction in advertising for the next 22 years.

Although I enjoyed advertising, I yearned to develop my art again. Evening or weekend classes at the School of Visual Arts, the Art Students League of New York, and mainly The New York Academy of Art (NYAA) began my journey back to painting. Online classes at NYAA have greatly helped to develop my art practice now that I live in coastal New Hampshire.

Inspiration everywhere

Other side roads during this period included culinary school at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) and health and wellness programs in functional nutrition. My interest in cooking and wellness feeds my artistic life in many ways. Farmer’s markets and long walks in nature are big inspirations for painting.

In The Studio

I work in oil and mixed media to reflect my enthusiasm for flowers, trees, animals, and land- or seascapes. My interest is in exploring form through color nuances, the rhythm of shape and line, and discovering how my pigments react with each layer. In portraits, I aim to find a person’s essence and energy. Every venture involves intuition, experimentation, and curiosity.
